iDevices and Jailbreaking

Filed in Apple , Technology

People often ask me what is the point in Jailbreaking their iDevice (iPhone, iPad, iPod touch etc) and I always answer – “Control”

When you jailbreak your phone you are taking control back from Apple and putting it firmly back in your hands. Normally Apple can dictate what applications you can use, what changes you can make even how you you use your phone.

When you have jailbroken you can decide what your phone looks like, what software you run on it.

There are loads of things you can do when jailbroken, that Apple block your from doing normally.

  • Custom Lock-screens
  • Custom Icons on the main screen
  • Fully Custom Themes
  • Use as a file storage device
  • Upload music and videos without iTunes!
  • Share your 3G without having to pay your provider
  • more..

These things you can do on Android devices normally, so why should you not be allowed to do it to your iDevice?

What’s your thoughts? Should people be allowed to jailbreak? Should Apple allow this sort of customization without the need to Jailbreak?
